The rules for armor class and saving throws suffer from redundancy. I think it makes more sense to condense them.
There are six saving throws that are poorly distinguished (why is a Str save separated from Con or Dex?), disproportionately utilized (when was the last time you need to roll your Int save?), and which encourage cookie cutter builds (Con, Dex and Wis are the most commonly rolled saves). Armor class relies on Dex while somehow being separate from the Dex save even though both are used to avoid damage.
I have seen a few different solutions to this. I would prefer something with the same simplicity as 13th Age, where characters and monsters all have three passive defenses of Physical, Mental and AC which the attacker or spell caster rolls against. But what can you do?
